I guess it isn’t just conservative Christians who dislike having their views questioned! I just got banned from a popular atheist’s website. He is a mythicist. He doubts that Jesus of Nazareth ever existed. Although I agree with him and other mythicists that the historical evidence for Jesus of Nazareth is relatively weak, I accept majority expert opinion that he did exist.
I suggested to this atheist/mythicist blogger that by appealing to fringe scholarship to support his mythicist views, he is in fact no different than conservative Christians who appeal to fringe scholarship to support their belief in the eyewitness authorship of the Gospels, for instance.
He didn’t like that.
