|David, King of Israel|
If the New Testament is correct and Jesus was born of a virgin, then Jesus was not a descendant of King David, and therefore not the messiah, as Jews have ALWAYS taught that the Messiah must be a direct descendant of King David through his BIRTH father.
Jewish law does not allow for an adoption (for instance by Joseph) as an exception to this rule. The ancestry of the mother (Mary) is irrelevant.
Christians can cook up all kinds of twisted explanations for why Jesus fulfills OT messianic prophecies, but they cannot come up with a good explanation for Jesus’ failure to meet this messianic requirement.
Jesus was either not the Messiah, was the Messiah but not the Son of God, or was neither. Those are your only choices, my Christian friends.
