Most Christians have never read this book cover to cover. Isn’t that odd? This book supposedly contains the very words of the Creator, but most Christians have never taken the time to read what their Creator has to say to them.
Answer: the Bible.
I strongly recommend that every Christian read the entire Bible. Read it beginning with the first chapter of Genesis straight through to the last chapter of Revelation. While you are reading this book, I encourage you to ask yourself these questions:
1. Are the characteristics, attitude, and behavior of the God of the Bible consistent with my own standards of moral behavior?
2. Are the statements and descriptions of the physical universe in the Bible consistent with known, modern, scientific evidence? In other words, does the Bible appear to have been written by the Maker of the Universe, or by an ancient people who had little to no knowledge of the laws of physics and the other sciences?
3. Are the many apparent discrepancies that I come across in the Bible easily harmonizable or do they often require such a stretch of the imagination to maintain my belief in Biblical inerrancy that I would never accept such an explanation for discrepancies in the holy writings of another world religion?
4. Even though I want to believe with all my heart and soul that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, am I willing to keep an open mind and consider the possibility that it is not?
